FLORENCE B&B
i saw a posting last summer for the DeiMori B&B in florence on fodors....i contacted them and we stayed recently for 4 nites....the place is charming and the owners could not have been more helpful....we paid 110E for a smallish room (they are all quite small) with private bath....the location is the most ideal for the tourist....half way between the signore square and the dummo....it could not have been more perfect...
the owners assist you with the most excellent restaurant suggestions and we followed their lead 100% and each restaurant was better than the previous one....these were not the usual tourist restaurants....
the breakfast was simple but adequate to get you started....the rooms are quiet...
only negetive is that to reach them you must climb 47 steps....you get used to it...how else would you get rid of those extra ice cream helpings????
their web site is: www.bnb.it/demori

I stayed there last May and thought Dei Mori was just ok..We visited 5 different cities and stayed in 5 different properties and liked this one the least. Perhaps I was looking for that warm friendly American B&B atmosphere. I guess it is all about what a person likes,Florence as a city was at the bottom of my list as well.
I thought I would like Rome the least but we fell in love with Rome and will return there 53 days( who's counting).
In all fairness the lovely girl(blonde) that helped run Dei Mori was a true asset to the property..

suzanne is very nice...she is from nyc as you know....the guys could not have been nicer to us and we felt that they provided us fabulous B&B hospitality....perhaps they didn't like the way you hugged??? couldn't resist that comment...
this was not a fabulous B&B, but when you consider where it is...in the middle of a major tourist city, i think that it is special....
florence is a nice city but not one of my absolute favorites either....i did like it and would perhaps return another time...venice is another story...
i need to do rome again...last time 1965....
