great hotels in Rome , Florence and Lake Com

I'm traveling to Italy in Sept and i am looking for hotels that don't cost 300 euros a night. Last time i stayed at some great B&B's in Rome (Daphane Inn), and Florence (Casa Howard), but they are booked this time. Does anyone know of any other small boutique hotels or B&B's that may be available. Also looking for a hotel in Lake Como.
Has anyone ever taken the train to Monte Carlo from Florence or Lake Como? How long does it take?

Friends of mine jsut stayed at the Arco del Lauro B&B and were incredibly pleased. If you enjoyed the Daphne Inn, this might be a good place for you.

In Florence, I can recommend the Relais Cavalcanti.

I stay at the San Gallo Palace in Florence and it gives excellent value for the money. It is a bit out of the center which I prefer.

Also check out Hotel David in Florence.

In Rome, Albergo Cesari is perfectly located and also a great value.

Last October we stayed at Al Colonnato di San Pietro in Rome, a B&B directly across from the south columns of St.Peter's Square and at the Hoel Casci in Florence-I would highly recommend both & hope to go back ASAP.There are reviews of both on this site & on the "other" site that "advises about trips".Good luck

A second for Arco del Lauro in Rome. Its location in Trastevere is wonderful, as is the owner/manager Laurenza. Rooms are spotless, modern, and comfortable. Continental breakfast at a charming nearby cafe is included in the room price. Can't be beat!

In Florence, the Relais Grand Tour is a gem.

In Lenno (village on Lake Como) the Albergo Lenno is elegant, yet reasonably prices. Lenno the town is teensy tinesy and charming as can be.

We stayed in all three places exactly a year ago. All have websites, just google their names.

We stayed at both places a year ago.
