Florence airport question
Anyone have recent experience on the cost of a taxi from Florence airport into the city center (actually, to Santa Croce)? We are going in December and I need to move four adults with luggage. Or is there a better alternative to a taxi?
Thanks.
Thanks.

In July we paid 15 euro for three persons from the airport to the train station (1 person drop off), and then on to the Duomo (2 person drop off). It was my understanding from other posters that this was the typical fare.
It might be slightly higher to Sante Croce.

Yes, the airport is very close, and 15 euro is indeed the typical taxi fare to town. As always in Italy (and anywhere else in Europe), make sure you are in a licensed cab.
There is also an airport shuttle, but it only goes as far as the train station (Santa Maria Novella), and it's about 4-5 euro per person, so it makes no sense for 4 adults. Taxi is clearly the way to go.

When i was in Florence earlier this year i took the train to Pisa and it goes by the Florence airport and they were building a new train line from Florence right into the airport - if operational and it looked nearly complete several months ago you may be able to rail into Florence and from the train station taxi to your destination. Of course the main airport in the Florence area is at Pisa, the smaller few miles from Florence airport is the one i'm and i assume you're talking about. There are direct trains from Florence to the Pisa airport.

Hi Curtis! From the airport to santa croce area a taxi ride will cost about 20 euro. Or you could consider to take the bus shuttle that will leave you at the train station and from there take a taxi to your hotel ....but you are four people and have luggage so I think it would be better for you to take a taxi directly from the airport.
