There is a train station right at the airport. Train takes you directly to Florence. Trains hourly. Forget the taxi, it's way too expensive!!!

Given the distance a taxi from Pisa airport to Florence would cost you _AT_LEAST_ 100 euro (or dollars) and it would not save out time neither offer you more comfort, especially because a Pisa taxi driver will almost surely not be too expert in driving in Florence. Your best option is the train, as others have stated: you do not need to leave the airport, the station is right there, there is one train every hour, for the most part the trains are brand new and very comfortable, with air conditioning and all, they will take you to the center of Florence in 1.15 hours and on your way back you should be able to check in for the flight at santa Maria Novella station in Florence before you get on the train. From Santa Maria Novella you are likely to be already within walking distance from your hotel.

Take the train, it arrives right in the heart of florence, there are several good hotels within 200 meters. I love Florence, best gelati in Italy !

I agree with all the others. Last September I flew into Pisa on my way to Florence. Stayed in Pisa over night so as to climb the Tower first thing the next morning (Well worth the few euros to make the climb). Took taxi from the hotel in Pisa to the train station - 7 Euros. Train from Pisa to Florence - 4.95 Euros. Don't know what more information you could want but apparently since you seem determined to take taxi from Pisa to Florence, go ahead. "We'll be in Florence a for ye". And all of us will continue to be amazed. A fun part of traveling in Italy is traveling by train. Ciao.

Now, doc, if you are telling us that you want to take a taxi from Pisa to Florence, why asking around about what is the best way to get from Pisa to Florence? Please, clarify this. You say you have been in Italy 40 times before, you have used the train before (yet you didn't know that the station is inside the iarport, that's funny, isn't it?) but you want to take a taxi this time. If you know so much already, why asking? Please, tell me. I am curious about the odd ways people can devise to needlessly bother other people.

It seems pretty rude to me to ask the best way from Pisa airport to Florence, and then to ignore all the advice that people give. Why waste other people's time, if you have already decided you must go by taxi ?

doc:

That was not a comment, that was a question. Would you, please, answer me, since I have used time to answer what I thought was an inquiry of yours (only to find out that you had alread decided what to do before you asked)?

fyi car service from pisa-florence about $200 euros. train is much less. yes, I asked for advice, I din't ask for ORDERS. If you don't want to answer, you don't have to. Perhaps most of you are lawyers(LOL), and are used to billing out your time. I asked for taxi, car, etc info. I choose what I choose, however, I do appreciate all the advise, and take it as advise. I rsvp to these boards, as well as many others, with advise, not orders, demands, or if the questioner chooses to use my advise, or not, i don't consider it a waste of my time. I'm still confused- quite honestly, in the end i wish you well, thanks for your rsvp. get over it

You asked «whats the best way to florence??». The best way is by train, that's what so many people suggested (not ordered) you to do. You might have asked "Aside from train (which I do not want to use), what is the best way from Pisa to Florence?". You did not, neither you have cofrrected yourself in later messages. Are we supposed to be able to read your mind? Besides, your question aslways had a characteristic "ring", they sounded very arrogant and (despite the cat that you claim having been to italy several times before) misinformed. In other words, lacking both form and respect for the other people. I am ofended by your attitude towards people, nobody here is an answering machine, we are living people who, for one reason or another, soend time giving informations. Nobody is paid for it, at least you should act with courtesy, but maybe you would need to learn about courtesy first.

Dear doc,
It would be much more convenient to fly into FLR (Florence) rather than PSA (Pisa). Taxi fare 10 E.

Dear Doc,

You must be that ever so important business traveller who always gets in front of me in the line at the airline gate and makes a huge stink. I know you are the most important person on earth and I know you are incredibly intelligent (although it baffles me that you asked the question "best" way to begin with.) Now do us all a favor and take your type A butt somewhere else.

Alice, please excuse Dr. Intrepid. He's a bozo.
