Yes charnees,you make a very good point re the cruise, def crossed off the list...
carolyn - bookmarking all those places, I think Sicily sounds like its a good place to spend some quality time... Did you stay in a hotel or appartment? oh, and Im taking it no matter where we go Gelato is a daily necessity.

kcnewby, we did a small-group tour through Amber Tours. There were 16 very compatible people in our group, and we had a great leader and a great time. We stayed in small hotels except for Palermo. That one was the Grand Hotel des Palmes, and its claim to fame was a long ago meeting attended by Lucky Luciano. My favorite city was Syracuse where we stayed at the Hotel Roma. Taormina was charming, as was our hotel, the Hotel Villa Belvedere.
I recommend a daily intake of gelato, to be taken as medicine, of course.
