I'm not sure what you mean "is the hydrofoil right there". If you mean next to the train stationm, no. You'll have to taxi to the dock. Be sure to have a rolled up newspaper in your hand to beat off the beggars. The dock in Naples is a DUMP.

"beggars"????
I encountered fewer beggars/bums etc...in four days in Naples last month than in a single day in Rome.
As for the dock, I took the ferry to Capri and had no problems - wasn't any grimier than your average port.
IMO, Naples gets an unfair rap.

Bravo Coachboy!! I guess you are now an oficial member of " I love Naples". Welcome!! Unfortunately many travelers fail to open their senses to a destination rather than only seeing the apparent. I currently live in one of the most beatiful and visited parts of the U.S. but have traveled and enjoyed many parts of this world of ours. Each is different but they all have an individual and enjoyable character.

lisasal: I am taking the train from Rome to Naples also. I was going to take a taxi from the train station to the port, but the hotel I am staying in (in Capri) offers pick up at the train station. So I am going to try to arrange that, otherwise, will take the ferry to Capri from the port Molo Beverello, as Ann1 suggested. When are you going? I'll be there early August. Have a wonderful time!
