Does anyone know if the ferries from Positano to Capri run in March? I checked a website for Amalfi ferries and there is no information posted.

Hi Palatino - I suspect there will be Positano-Capri services over Easter.

If you are travelling before Easter, check before you leave at:

http://www.capri.net/salsa/lang/en/page/transport.html

If services are not available from Positano when you're there, you can take the bus to Sorrento (- 45 mins) - from where the ferry services to Capri run all year.

I would not count on it.
I was there for Easter two years ago (in April) and there were NO FERRIES from Positano anywhere - tourist office told me they never start before Easter (that year, there were none Easter weeknd in Aapril - so I doubt Easter weekend in March) we took the buss to Sorrento and caught the ferry to Cappri from there.

Just curious: Are there no year-round inhabitants of the island? If they must get to the mainland in poor weather, how do they manage, on private boats/water taxi-type craft?

Never mind..read the thread again and see that there are year-round boats to Sorrento..sorry!
