Booking for Positano Ferry

Hello all, we will be stopping at Sorrento Friday, 8/31 for a full day and wish to ferry around to Positano. We have been on AC before and have explored Capri and other towns further along coast in April some years ago. Shall we buy those tickets online now? Are the lines from the cruiseships crazy long? We do not wish to take the SITA bus which seems to run on its own schedule on the heavily-trafficked route. I suppose there is always the chance of not being able to tender/dock due to weather/tides, but think this time of year that risk minimal. What would you do?

Book the ferries - are you going round trip ton Positano that day? And if rough seas cancel and go to Paestum - stellar Greek temples just south of Salerno - train or bus - and enjoy Salerno a town that is rather nice.
