Faxing the Vatican?

I've been trying to fax the Vatican about a tour for about 3 days now, keep getting a message that "all lines are temporarily busy, try later." I'm dialing 011 then the Vatican Country Code 06 6988 5100. Anyone else run into this? My trip is in just over a month.

Don't dial the zero before the 6 at the beginning of the number when dialing from another country - only used when dialing within Italay.

The fax number is as follows...

039-06-698-85100

I know it looks strange, but that is the one that works.

Oh, and depending on your carrier, you may have to do it this way...

011-39-06-698-85100

dave

Just tried them both and they both work, depending on if I am using my Skypephone or my regular phone.

I'm using Vonage and they list the country code for the Vatican as 379, still no success.

That's because the country code for the Vatican IS NOT 379, Biscuithead.

PLEASE follow instructions.

379 is going to be for FUTURE USE in VC but it has not yet been implemented.

Vonage has some different things...

If you have V-access, then you have to do things like press # key or the 1 key after you enter the number.

You'll need to contact Vonage customer support (good luck) to determine exactly how to do this.

All I can tell you is with SkypeOut I do this...

Choose Italy (039) then dial 06-698-85100.

With my landlines (sprint or Net2Phone) I do it this way...

011-39-06-698-85100

If you're having a hard time with your Vonage, you might want to try Staples or somewhere like that. When we faxed the Vatican last year, we went to staples, filled out a fax cover sheet, and got our confirmation. The cost was maybe 3 or 4 dollars.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the responses, I finally called Vonage again and there was some problem on their end. So, I guy in India helped a fellow in Tennessee fax the Vatican in the Holy See. Isn't it a wild world we live in?
