Favorite hotel room in Rome

We are looking for a nice hotel in Rome. will be there for 2 nights in October. We need a triple and want to spend $200 maybe a little more a night. Hoping to find something around the via veneto area. Any favorites?

The Via Veneto area is nice but very expensive. I gave a tour of Rome to some friends and family last month, and one couple stayed at the Marriott on Via Veneto - $400 a night. Another couple stayed at Hotel Brittania - not far from Termini and less than $200 - and really enjoyed it.

Try Hotel Parlamento is off Via del Corso and ask for room N.7( nice large room)
if you need a triple room. The location is super, walking distance to Trevi, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Piazza Venezia etc..,
The staff is pleasant, and most of all is very safe.
I stay there everytime I go back to Rome.

Why Via Veneto?
Stay closer to centro storico. Check out this one: Residenza Farnese

Here's one idea - book a standard room at a place like the excelsior and when you arrive, ask for an upgrade. We did and ended up with a 2 bedroom suite - two bathrooms and a fireplace!

Sounds good cmeyer54 but what if they don't have an upgrade to give us? I am having trouble finding rooms in Rome that are centerally located and at the mentioned price. I gess that's what happens when you think you have sooo much time

Take a look at the modigliani. it is near the Spanish steps, your original area of interest. While i haven't stayed there myself, people whose opinion I respect have and liked it very much.

Try the Hotel Barocco near the Spanish steps. stayed there in March. Nice Italian hotel, the staff was great, breakfast is included and if you pay in euros you get a discount

I am looking for a hotel room in the same area around the same time, and people are recommending the San Carlo, around the Spanish Steps. They apparently have large rooms for around that price. (You can do a search for that thread by searching for Hotel San Carlo.)

Splendide Royal....BEAUTFIUL!! Don't know if you can get that low of a rate...but check expedia. If it is just "alittle more", it is worth it. Breakfast is great...includes bacon and eggs. It is in the Via Veneto area. It has five stars and deserves every one of them. Also, heard you could get a good rate through American Express at that location. Good Luck!! Email if you have any questions.
