Father's day dinner near Munich Schwabing area

Hi, my family (2 boys age 5&6 and me and hubby) will arrive into Munich on June 20 and meet up with another family who has a girl age 2. We the wives want to take the Dads out for dinner but don't know where to go. Will stay at Munich Holiday Inn north and wonder there are any good restaurants to go around that area since we probably will be too tired to travel far

Why don't you contact the hotel. They will have good recommendations.

Hi, it depends how much money you want to spend. The best restaurant of Munich is in walking distance, it's called the Tantris, but its really expensive. Otherwise there is not too much around the hotel, including no subway. You could take the bus down Leopoldstrasse, which would be about a 5 minute ride and have dinner in the area of the Münchner Freiheit (that's the endstation of the bus). There are lots of restaurants there. We locals go for exmaple into the "Brez'n", which has excellent Bavarian food and a very nice decor, or to the "Weinbauer", which is around the corner of the Brez'n, also Bavarian food at a very good price. If the weather is nice you should consider a Biergarden: one close to the Münchner Freiheit is called the "Osterwaldgarten", right on the edge of the English Garden. It's a smaller Biergarden with good food. If you don't mind spending 10 € on a cab, go to the "Seehaus", in the English Garden, very nice setting. There you can choose between the self-service Biergarden or the restaurant. In the restaurant you can also sit outside on the terrace with a nice view of the lake. Often crowded, so you would have to make a reservation.

If you are out and about in Munich in the vicinity of the Bavarian National Museum and Schack-Galerie (Prinzregentstrasse), try the Liebighof im Lehel. Nice relaxed restaurant with many reasonably priced menu items.

But beer gardens are always a good, inexpensive bet for comfort food and fun.
