My wife and I will be driving to the Bayaux area to visit the D-Day sites and would like to stay on a farm BnB in the Bayaux area for 2 nights in mid March. I don't remember; plot the sites on Google maps and multiply time by 1.5 That will give ballpark figure that is safe to work with.

Self guided (we will have a car) or tour company?

We had a car and were glad; we would rather self-educate and have the freedom, but I have read good reviews on D-Day sites tours that give lots of info with good guide. Sorta depends on your personal preference in travel mode, I guess.

Definitely see the Bayeux Tapestry and the cathedral. We also enjoyed the DDay Museum in Caen.

The Mémorial in Caen is not a D-Day museum per se. It is far more comprehensive than that. It's a fabulous museum and one should allow half a day to do it justice.

If you are going to drive around on your own and see the D-Day sites, avail yourself of a Michelin guide so you know and understand what you're seeing.
