Farm BnB in Bayaux area
My wife and I will be driving to the Bayaux area to visit the D-Day sites and would like to stay on a farm BnB in the Bayaux area for 2 nights in mid March. I have found one or two but would welcome suggestions. As one website put it "rentals that allow you to savour the local products and find out about educational farms"

Darn it, accidentally hit submit. I'll try again.
Not to nitpick but the correct spelling is Bayeux, not Bayaux. That might affect google and other web searches. Probably the most well known website for farm stays is http://www.bienvenue-a-la-ferme.com/ . You can also find local/regional food products on this website. Here are the results for Calvados département (where Bayeux is located): http://www.bienvenue-a-la-ferme.com/...cances_enfant= |
Sorry, spelling isnt my best attribute.
texasbookworm, I have seen this farm on the internet, how long does it take to drive to Bayeux? |
I don't remember; plot the sites on Google maps and multiply time by 1.5 That will give ballpark figure that is safe to work with.

If I can book for my dates in March I will.
Thank you. Do you have any other tips for that area? Restaurants? How do see the D-Day sites. Self guided (we will have a car) or tour company? |
We had a car and were glad; we would rather self-educate and have the freedom, but I have read good reviews on D-Day sites tours that give lots of info with good guide. Sorta depends on your personal preference in travel mode, I guess.
Definitely see the Bayeux Tapestry and the cathedral. We also enjoyed the DDay Museum in Caen. |
The Mémorial in Caen is not a D-Day museum per se. It is far more comprehensive than that. It's a fabulous museum and one should allow half a day to do it justice.
If you are going to drive around on your own and see the D-Day sites, avail yourself of a Michelin guide so you know and understand what you're seeing. |
