Fall Airfares

My husband and I are planning a trip to London in late September-early October but so far the cheapest airfare I can find is $534 from Dulles to London. Does this seem high for fall travel? Should I wait and see if the prices go down or buy now? Thanks!

no, it doesn't seem high to me at all for that time of year. It seems like a good fare. If it were the times and carrier I wanted, I'd book it, but I don't know what you should do.

I've been researching fares for two years as my several-times-delayed honeymoon keeps getting pushed back. I would say, for that time period LAST year, it was a so-so fare. It's a pretty good fare this year, and it may not get any better. However, it is POSSIBLE that it will drop further, perhaps in a promo sale. Take a look at the cancellation penalties: if they are minimal, I'd say go ahead and buy, and if a much better fare came up, then the difference might be worth the change. If a better fare doesn't show up, you have a pretty good fare locked in.

Some airlines will grant you a voucher or refund if the fare goes down later, but don't count on it happening

That sounds like a decent fare for that time of year, assuming that includes taxes. Usually you won't start to get the super-low fares until at the very earliest mid-October, and usually not until late-October, early-November.

With the number of flights having been decreased that might not be a bad fare. Flights are selling out so there is not a need for a sale to fill them. YOu could wait and diligently (several times a day) shop a while longer and particularly since you are leaving from a major east coast airport.
