Extra Day Between Venice and Florence

I have an extra day between Venice and Florence and was thinking of Bologna, but there appears to be a trade show during that period (October 15). Any thoughts of towns that would be interesting besides Bologna.

Thanks,

We stopped in Verona for two nights and found it to be absolutely spendid. On the way there (from Florence BTW)we had lunched in Mantua/Mantova and it, too, is a very cool little town. If you like university towns, you would find either one of those appealing.

I think I'd spend the extra day in Florence, maybe take a half day trip to Pisa. I personally don't think you could spend too much time in Florence. It is soo beautiful.

For my money I would stay in Pisa. Its a great university town with a fishing heritage and of course the leaning tower which is a must see.

Go to Padua and visit the Scrovegni Chapel. Wonderful.
