Euro Quiz # 57: Markets, markets and markets!

One of my favorite thing about Europe is its many colorful street markets and today's quiz is all about markets!

- A French flea market is called what?

- Paris has two main flea markets - one much bigger than the other is located near which metro stop? And on what days is it open. (Actually 15 separate markets in total.)

- Where is the other main Paris flea market located? (Market is the same name as the Porte de ....... where it is located?)

- This London food and veg market is known as a purveyor of fancy gourmet foods like exotic cheeses, meats, breads, etc - located in part under the arches of London Bridge Railway Station?

- This gritty sprawling Cockneyesque East Side London street market market is named after which piece of clothing?

- Just outside Florence's Mercato Nuevo indoor food market is a very famous fountain and statue - originally made in the 1600s for gthe Baboli Gardens but later moved here - what is the fo untain's name, what does the name mean in Italian and what two things do visitors to Flornce do if wanting to guarantee their return to Venice (Florence's version of the Trevi Fountain) - the original was removed in 1998 to a museum and a copy was put up in its place.

- At German Christmas markets this hot alcoholic drink is a ubiquitous feature?

- Amsterdam's best known street market is located near the old Heineken Brewery (now a shell of itself called the Heineken Experience) is a most colorful mutli-ethnic affair?

- Back in the days when Amsterdam was overrun with street thieves - in the 70s and 80s - the word was 'if you had something stolen you could go to this sprawling flea market and buy it back!" (Think Napoleon!)

- This ancient Venetian market - in the same venue for many centuries - is adjacent to what, from which it takes its name?

- What are some of your favorite European street markets? (optional question not counting in the quiz).
