Eurail Pass

Hi, My route is Praque->Vienna->Athens->Italy->Monaco->Spain->London for 23 days. As far as I know, Euail Pass covers all the places above but not Czech/Praque. Is it stll advisable to purchase the Eurail Pass in advance, then on top, pay for the trip from Praque->Vienna. Someone pls kindly advise..

I suggest you go to either www.railpass.com or www.railsaver.com and input your proposed itinerary.

This will tell you whether rail passes or point-to-point tickets are more economical for you to purchase.

This is a phenomenal amount of traveling for 23 days, and means that inherently your time allocation to "Italy", to "Spain" and to London will require some big sacrifices or superficiality, or both.

At least three of your travel segments (if you're going to keep all the pieces of this "scavenger hunt&quot would be better traveled by low-cost intra-europe airline, rather than by train - - see ww.whichbudget.com for an overview of possibilities, regarding Vienna-Athens, Athens-"Italy", and "Spain"-London.

Just curious, how well, and how many of these seven languages do you speak? (counting English - - I don't know if the "hk" in your screen name signifies that you are from Hong Kong, but your mastery of English certainly seems good)

I'll be surprised if the purchase of a "rail pass" is a good bargain for you.

And I strongly urge you to consider deleting one (if not two or three) of these countries from your proposed list of destinations.

Best wishes,

Rex

Voyager/Rex,

Thanks for advice. In fact I wanted to cancel Praque but unfortunately too late, also I've enroled in Athens & Monaco Marathon, I have to be there either. Since I visited Italy & London b4, so alternative left is to skip Vienna & Italy, stay longer in Manaco & Nice, visit Barcelona only since I dep from there via Britsh Airways and stop over in London for 3 days to meet friends. Rex, u must be in CSI, I'm from HK.

Frankly, I do not consider this a "scavenger hunt" nor do I think you need to be well-versed in any of the languages since in many of the larger cities in these places you can easily get by knowing only English.

I do, however, agree with Rex when he attempts to stick to the facts rather than subjective characterizations about other folks' travel plans that checking out the possibilities of flying between some locations is a good idea.

Be aware, however, of the checked luggage restrictions that these airlines impose and have a great trip.

I checked the flight from AThens to Nice, costs $350 Euro which is too expensive for me. So have to stick to either rail or ferry which I haven't explored yet.
