Erding to Daucau
Wondering if anyone happens to know..
We are considering staying in Erding rather than by the airport for the 1 night we are on stopover but would like to visit Daucau and the Hofbrauhause (sp). Does anyone know the best way to get to these places and back in one day. Is it possible? I have been trying to locate an interactive website that would allow me to plug in the locations I plan to go to and leave from but have been unable to find.

Go to www.bahn.de. This is the website of the Deutsche Bahn, the German RR.
Enter Erding (departure) and Marienplatz (arrival). That will give you the S-Bahn schedule for the Erding - Hofbraeuhaus route and the time/cost this will take. Do the same for Erding - Dachau. Or, you can combine the two trips by going from Erding to Dachau and then return via the Marienplatz. This (main) square is in front of the City Hall and within easy walking distance of the Hosbraeuhaus. You can also use discounted tickets for these trips.
I usually stay in Erding when catching an overseas flight back to the US.

We stayed at the Park Hotel (Best Western) in Erding. Very nice place, 2 blocks from the train station and an easy 5 minute walk into the old town of Erding. I think they have a shuttle service, but we left EARLY in the am... 5 am for a 7:30am flight. The hotel reserved a cab for us the night before and we took the cab from the hotel to the airport. 20 Euro, roughly 15 minute trip.

Thanks Paul. I think I'll do that on my next flight out of Munich. When we flew out of Munich in September, the train was so overcrowded. Then something happened to the train and everyone had to change to another train. It was a mad crazy bunch. We vowed to never do that again.

Thanks for the info. As for the hotel that I am looking at:
Hotel Kastanienhof in Erding
I have been told that it is directly next to or across the street from the train station.
Also appologies on the spelling of Dachau

Stella, the Hotel Kastanienhof is right across from the S-Bahn station in Erding. It's the end of the line. I have stayed there. Comfortable hotel, nothing fancy. Good value. Took a taxi to the airport (about 20 minutes; DK anymore how much I paid. Ordered it the nigfht before).
