shuttle munich airport to hotel

Is there a shuttle van company that runs vans from Munich Airport to the City Center hotels?. In other cities, we usually find the kind of shuttle that will take several groups of people directly from the airport to their specific hotels- usually promising a maximum of about 3 stops. We have found this service to be almost as convenient as a taxi and much less expensive. However, I can't seem to find one advertised in Munich.

I have never heard of such shuttles when living in Muncih. The most convenient way intot he city besides taxi would be the suburban train - S1 and S8 run every 10 minutes into the city and stop at all stations within the city center.

Hi emiller; What hotel? Then 'altamiro' will suggest what train to take. My hotel, Le Meridien suggests I can take either the S1 or S8 Dick

We will be traveling for a month so my husband and I will each have a medium and a small suitcase and I am trying to avoid coping with luggage on the train. Somehow, these shuttles - even when they exist - are hard to find on the internet. They are really convenient because they take you directly to the hotel or from the hotel to the airport. We recently used one in London.

To Iris1745 - we are also considering the Le Meridien - did you book through Starwood or did you get it on Priceline?

If getting on and off the train is the issue: Trains and platform are on same level, so you don't have to lift your luggage up some steps to get into the train. You can take any train of either line (1 or 8) from the airport.
Don't waste your time and line up at the manned desks for tickets but use one of the machines. You push the button for ONE "Partner-Tageskarte Gesamtnetz", and the two of you will go for €18 altogether into town. You can use that ticket which is a day pass for up to 5 people travelling together the remaining time of the day on any subway, suburban train, streetcar or bus until 3am the next day. It's cheaper than two single tickets for only the ride from the airport to the city center.

Both stations, airport and central station near the Meridien, have elevators and escalators. The suburban trains from the airport call at the central station's underground platforms. Follow the signs to the long distance trains, and exit the main hall at the opposite side, and you will see the Meridien in front of you (actually a few yards to your right, on the other side of the street). Also no steps to worry about during that very short walk to the hotel.

Alternatively, you can use the airport bus for €10.50 pP, €17rtn pP which will terminate at the central station's Northern entrance. Exit the main hall at the opposite side.. see above.

Hi emiller; We are using Starwood 'points, 4000' and 'US dollars 60', per night. Will be there on the 15th and 16th of September. Thanks 'cowboy', we will take the train and I was not sure if S1 or S8 got us closer to the hotel. Dick

I have stayed twice at Le Meridien and took the Lufthansa bus from the airport to the Hauptbahnhof. Hotel is right across the street and the bus is easier with luggage IMO and IME.

We found the Lufthansa bus very convenient and easy to find. The driver put our suitcases in the holding area at the side of bus and even called us a taxi to meet us at a stop nearer to our hotel. Of course if you are going right near the Hauptbanhof this is a perfect way to go. i don't remember the cost but it as reasonable.

We stayed at the Meridien in December. Taking the suburban train from the airport could not be any easier or quicker. Hotel is right across the street from the central station.
