Empress Zoe Hotel

I'm planning a trip to Istanbul with two of my friends. Initially, there were just two of us and we were looking at the Conrad, Ritz and Swissotel. With the additional person, I'd like to get something a litte bigger and perhaps in the Old City. Suites at the referenced hotels are very expensive.

I've done considerable research on forums as well as travel books trying to find a nice property in the Old City. The Four Seasons does not have triple rooms unless you book a $900 a night suite. Has anyone had experience with the Empress Zoe Hotel...specifically the Penthouse Suite or the newer Deluxe Garden Suite? Location seems good, pictures on website look nice and the suites are spacious. I would appreciate comments from anyone with first hand experience.

Thank you!

We stayed there a few years ago and really liked it. Great location, nice decor, interesting hotel, etc. I'd stay there again.

My sister stayed there 2 years ago, and loved it.

We just returned from Istanbul where we stayed at the Empress Zoe in the "special top floor double" room. It is a lovely little hotel, great decor and excellent location. Two things to note - it is pretty noisy (located on a street with lots of backpacker hostels and bars - no traffic noise, just people noise) so bring earplugs (although these will not drown out the 6.15 call to prayer from the nearby mosques!) Also, there are lots of very steep stairs to all the rooms, especially to the one we were in on the top floor. They will carry your luggage up but if you are not in good shape, the stairs can be an issue. But we loved it - friendly people, nice room and beautiful garden and terrace.
