Edinburgh

Have 2 1/2 days in Edinburgh. One day will be spent in St. Andrews. Any advice on getting there and sights to see while in Edinburgh, besides the castle.
Our first half-day is on a Monday.

Thanks,

Stnmnfn

To get to St Andrews -- you take a train to Leuchars and then a cab or local bus the 7 miles over to St Andrews. (or rent a car for the day)

W/ that short a time in Edinburgh you'll probably spend the majority of your time in the Old Town -- Castle, Camera Obscura, Royal Mile, St Giles, Scotch Whisky Centre, Gladstone's Land, NationalMuseum of Scotland, etc.

You can buy a ticket at either Waverley or Haymarket stations which covers the train & bus ride to St Andrews.

As for what to do in Edinburgh

I'm glad you are going to St. Andrews. The ride across the Forth alone is worth the trip.

What are your interests? Art, shopping, history, etc?

The National Galleries of Art is right on Princes Street directly below the castle. It is free.
