I prefer the erratic restaurants along the rue des Teinturiers in Avignon. Most tourists unfortunately get sucked into the places on the Place de l'Horloge. (I have nothing against those places, but they are 100% tourist places, which kind of defeats the purpose of trying to get an authentic local experience.)
