Easyjet from Venice Marco Polo
I have a flight from Venice (Marco Polo) to London. According to EasyJets website I have to be there at least 1 hour prior to departure to check in (the check in desk will close 40 minutes prior to the departure time). I will have luggage to check, and I assume I will have to check my luggage prior to getting to the boarding pass issue counter (if they are like Southwest). So my question is how soon before my flight takes off do I have to be at the airport? If it matters my flight is scheduled to leave at 1100. Usually in the US airlines recommend you arrive at least 2 hours prior to departure, but I understand Marco Polo is a small airport. thanks for any info.

Have flown Marco Polo to London but not on easy jet. According to posts here, easyjet has "open seating" (ie no assigned seats-first come, first served) so... I'd be there by 9:30am. Double check with easy Jet though. I thought they required 2 hr ahead.

I just did that exact flight last week. I arrived at the airport at 10:00 and altough there was a long line to check in, there was no problem getting to the plane on time. I wouldn't suggest getting there any later though. I had tried to get there earlier, but I was picking the 9:05 boat up from the Lido but had to wait for another due to crowds going to airport(it was a Sunday morning)

I would say about 1.5 hours before so you can get a decent seat as there aren't any seat assignments. That said, when I flew from Marco Polo to Stansted airport, the flight was delayed over three hours (which had also happened to some friends on the same flight a week or so before).
Are you departing in the AM or the PM? You didn't specify. I only enquire because if you're arriving in London after 11:30 to midnight or so, it can be very difficult to get transportation into the city, unless you want to pay a ransom for a taxi. Our flight delay meant we missed the last train from Stansted, had to wait hours for a bus, which took hours to travel to London, then we had to take a cab home from the drop-off point within central London. Accordingly, instead of arriving home before midnight, we got home at 5:30 a.m. and had to work the next day!

Three hours ??!?!?!?!?!! I sincerely hope that does not happen to me on my return flight from Edinburgh to Gatwick. I would miss my flight back to the States if it did. Yikes!! Scary thought. I would have no idea what to do if that happened. I assume I would find my way home somehow.........

Thanks for the replies. My flight does leave at 11AM so I should have no problem getting into London. I intend to take the Alilaguna boat from St. Marks Piazza to the Airport. For some reason I thought this was maybe a 20 minute boat ride. Reading another thread I found out the boat ride takes more like 1 hour 10 minutes! According to Alilaguana's web site I should be able to leave St. Marks at 07:50 to get to the airport at 09:00. This is earlier than I thought I would have to start this trek, but I don't want to pony up for a water taxi. Again thanks for all the input.

The alilaguna ride is about an hour. Your other option to the airport (besides a taxi) is to take the land bus from P. Roma. You'd take a vaparetto up the Grand Canal to P. Roma & then catch the bus there which is a 20 min ride. This is cheaper than the alilaguna. I think the schedule for the bus can be found on ACTV.com
