Early Rome departure

We have an early Rome departure and have read that the after hrs bus stops at Termini
although it originates at another station.
Is this true??

The night bus to the airport is operated by COTRAL lines, originates at the Tiburtina train station and, according to the Fiumicino Airport website (www.adr.it), the bus stops at Termini Train Station to pick up passengers. Departure times from Tiburtina are as follows:

0:30
1:15
2:30
3:45

Departures from Termini 10-15 minutes later. Travel time to the airport is roughly 35 minutes from Termini. One-way fare (pay the driver) is 3.62 Euros.

The COTRAL bus is much, much cheaper than taking a taxi or limosine.

The first TRAIN from Termini to the airport departs at 5:52, and takes 32 minutes. One way fare is 9.50 Euros.

Just as a suggestion....We had an early flight this last time in Rome. We spent the last night at the Hilton at the airport. It was wonderful. You can either take the train to the plane and walk to the hotel or they have a bus that meets on Via Teatro di Marcello....the piazza right in front of the teatro. If you're facing Monumento Vittorio Emanuelle, it's to the right. The bus is free and goes right to the hotel. It departs every two hours. I think on the even hours. Then in the morning, even though you can walk to the airport terminal, they have a free mini-bus that will take you right to the airline you're going to. There are other hotels there, also. I can't remember what they are. It was wonderful and very convenient. We had checked in early and took the bus back to Rome to walk around a while and took the bus back.....all free.

Does anyone know what the other airport hotels are? My research leads me to believe there is only one hotel in the airport or that close by. Also does anyone know if the late bus has one more departure after the 3:45AM time? Trying to be both economical and safe-maybe too much to ask. Thanks

I've stayed at the Hilton at the airport before, which was fine. On another visit, we booked a minivan service that picked us up from our hotel. We made the arrangement at our Rome hotel once we arrived. It worked just fine, but you have to budget for at least an extra hour because the driver picks up other passengers. It's more convenient than the night bus, and probably a little more expensive.

I will guess that a mini van service will be a good deal more than the 3.62 Euros of the night bus.

In any case, here is the airport's page of transportation links:

http://www.adr.it/content.asp?L=3&idMen=731

And it appears that the bus at 3:45 is the last night bus from Tiburtina.
