We are staying at the Hotel Straf,via san Raffaele. Last time we were in Milan we walked around and went inside the cathedral, this time I want to get to the roof. Can anyone tell me what time it opens ( I would really like to be there for sunrise !!)and which side to you gain access from. Don't mind steps! Thanks

The roof does not open before sunrise. I think you can take the elevator starting at 9AM.

If you are facing the front of the Duomo, go around towards the back on the left. You will see an entrance.

It's wonderful at the top.

Thank you, shame about the late start, I suppose that means a sleep in !!

There are elevators on both sides of the cathedral. If you want to take the steps, then, only the left. You'll pass the entrance to the stairs first, the elevator entrances are more to the rear.

Do the steps open earlier, also whats the current cost?
