to milan
im going to milan next week on my own..i will stay there for 4 days is it enough to see all the sighseeings and go for shopping?i want to go to Rome is that easy if i go by train?how long will it takes to get in Rome??

Hi first of all 3visu_girl, you have already posted the same thread earlier. No doubt you do not know this as Fodor's does not give this information, but if you click on your name next to the Welcome Sign on the upper left hand side of the screen you will find your other post.
Regarding Milan, yes 4 days will be enough to see what Milan, more then enough in fact.

The Last Supper: a "must do" in Milan.
You should buy your ticket on line before you go. Seeing the painting is wonderful. Rent the audio guide to hear it explained.
The Cathedral is also an impressive sight; go onto the roof.

Milan's historic centre is pretty compact, so you will be able to see it at its best. 4 days in Milan is more than enough for Milan. Start a day in Piazza Duomo, see the cathedral, go up to the top for a view of the city (in autums it's pretty foggy or smoggy depending on the weather conditions), then go to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele up to the Opera House (Teatro della Scala. Go through the Galleria again and turn on the left, there is a loooong shopping street from there, filled with beautiful shops and a large Rinascente shopping mall.
ANother day you can visit Castello Sforzesco, once owned by the noble Sforza family. Impressive building, so full of history, the walk along Via Dante (shops there too)up to the Duomo again, then take Via Torino, stop on your left to see the Chiesa di San Satiro one of the little masterpieces of Bramante (it's so small that he created a kind of trompe l'oeil), then go to the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana if you like to see some paintings by Caravaggio.
Another day would be dedicated to the LAst Supper (book in advance) and the Museum of Science and Technology.
4th Day: Pinacoteca di Brera and the Church of Sant'Ambrogio (who is the saint of Milan).
