Driving from CDG to Normandy

We will be arriving in Paris on Sunday around 12:00 PM. My husband and son-in-law will be renting a car and driving to Deauville, while my daughter and myself enjoy the French Open! I presume that the staff at Hertz will offer maps and detailed instructions to my husband and son-in-law (who speak no French except for a couple of phrases). Is there anything they should know that would make their drive to Normandy easier? We want them to return!

The one tricky thing is that you must know the name of the next town you want to go through, because there won't be signs at a branch indicating which one leads to a destination further down the road.

This will be especially critical getting from CDG to the A13 on the west side of Paris.

I recommend going to http://www.viamichelin.com and running the entire route, then printing it out in small scale. I would not rely on a limited knowledge of French to understand what a Hertz clerk is trying to communicate (although many people in the tourism business have a working knowledge of English, it can't be counted on).

We drive all over Europe. I always print off the directions from

www.mappy.com

and then COMPARE their directions to one of the Michelin maps. We've driven from Paris to Deauville and they shouldn't ahve a problem.

I did this. The Hertz maps are useless. Get the Michelin before you go and figure out the towns along your route.

It really wasn't that hard, but you need better maps then Hertz gives.
