I hadn't thought about whether I'd punch in checking or savings if I used my Cap One MM ATM card, that's a good point. I guess I would have thought of it as savings, as it really is (even though they do mail you those checks). I had also heard that maybe you couldn't use that ATM card in Europe due to it not being a checking account, though, so would be good to learn that it works. I don't think a test in the US would prove it would work in Europe, though, as you do have a choice in the US.

Christina, That is what I was asking. I tried my card here withdrawing from checking and it didn't work. I then tried savings and it worked. Leaving in 2 days, hope it works in Eastern Europe!

The deal is that the European ATM only accesses one account. If you have two (chck + savings), you can only access the primary one. If you have only one account (either kind) then it should work.

The question about conversion fees on Capital One cards was posed some time ago. I just returned from France where I used both my Capital One credit card and my Direct Banking card to withdraw money from ATMs. No conversion fee was charged on either. Boots
