Next month will be my 2nd stay at the Kennedy. If you don't mind the location right by the train station which is safe but not romantic and the price is right it's a nice hotel.
It's been recently remodeled, new elevator, pleasant staff, a very nice b'fast (no meat or eggs but a nice assortment of breads, pastries, cereals alot better than other 3* and even 4* I've stayed at), tv (cnn & bbc).
The Single room I stayed in was decent sized and my only complaints are the new shower stall was *very* small and there is no in-room safe.
I stayed in March '01 so I don't know about the AC but the heat/hot water was fine.
Also they are very easy to book directly online (www.hotelkennedy.net), in case you were going thru a 3rd party booking service with a commission. Regards, Walter

Hello goingtorome

I stayed at the Hotel Kennedy 2 years ago and thought it was a good price for the money. I second everything paradise says about the hotel. I had two different rooms there. The first room had one of those prefab mini showers. The second room had a larger, almost normal, shower. If the small shower is a problem you can always ask for a room with bathtub or ask to see the room before you register and if the shower is too small ask for another room.

I thought the staff was very friendly and helpful, especially for a large city.

Have lots of fun in Rome.

Adrienne
[email protected]
I recently booked a night at the Kennedy based on Walter's previous recommendations. Dumb question, but I need to ask: where do I exit the train station to be sure I'm on the correct street to walk over to the hotel?

Holly,

If you're facing the main entrance (from inside the station), exit towards the left. If my memory hasn't failed me you would then walk to the left on the street and over 1 block. I would suggest buying a map of Rome before you get there - one of the laminated ones are great. The hotel website may also have a map or you can fax/email them for directions from the station. It's not far - about a 5 minute walk.

adrienne
[email protected]
Goingt.... Hotel Parlamento is just off Via Del Corso, walking distance to Spanish Steps, Trevi, piazza Venezia ,the Roman Forum and the Pantheon..The staff is very friendly, the rooms are decent and the bathrooms are modern..The aerea around via del Corso is chic and nice..Everytime I go to Rome I always stay there..as a matter of fact, i made reservations for june.. Buon viaggio...

Thanks, Adrienne. (My laminated map doesn't show the termini area.) Sounds easy enough to find.

Adrienne is correct except it would be 2+ blocks. If you exit the side door at the station the the 1st street 45deg° to the left is Via D. Manin, then Via Gioberti and then Via C. Cattaneo which is the cross street the hotel is on and 1 block over on Via G. Amendola which changes to Via Filippo Turati 1 block before the hotel.
If you're arriving on the Airport Train whose track (~#26) is at the *far back end* of the station do this. Don't take the moving walkway down 1 level, instead walk along the platform towards the front of the station. Past the halfway point there will be an exit on your left which cuts thru a business. Exit there and that cross street Via Cattaneo will be across the street and 45deg to your left. The hotel is ~150m away. If you don't have a good street map yet, the hotel is across the street from the upper (north) corner of the Piazza M. Fanti.
Regards, Walter

Thanks for the great advice--
In spite of excellent directions to the Kennedy, I think we'll try Parlamento to be closer to the sights!
Susan
