Apartments usually ask for a minimum of three or four nights (and more often a week ) stay.

We're a family of four and always find that most chain hotels tend to have family rooms or have adjoining rooms. In Europe we find the Accor group is good (includes Novotel).

Have a look at the easyjet site. They usually have quad rooms available. Other than that, as already suggested contact the hotels. Finally, sometimes you can have connecting rooms if you won't all fit in one.

Mo_G~ we have three small children (under 5) and have "made room" for them in smaller rooms, like you mentioned. We try to find a family room first but we usually don't book rooms ahead and sometimes get stuck. I have found that most places we have stayed in Europe have been very accomodating to our needs, rather than turning us away when they see the size of our family.

In Sept '05, I reserved a room for my daughter and me at Hotel Kap, but it wasn't ready when I arrived (ahead of DD) and jet lag was killing me! I was given a room for 4 instead, at no extra charge. 2 single beds and 2 that folded down out of cabinets built in the wall...lots of floor space during the day. Great staff. Nothing fancy but we'd go there again!

We liked the Hotel Residence le Coin, in Amsterdam, for our family of four. We had two connecting rooms. They also have a quad room. http://www.lecoin.nl/

From my trip report: "We stayed in a fabulous location, at The Hotel Residence le Coin, which was directly across a small street from the Hotel de l’Europe, down the street from the Hotel Doelan, on Nieuwe Doelenstraat (sp?). A great neighborhood in the heart of old Amsterdam.

"The hotel has a lift and A/C, also free use of the hotel’s washing machine and clothes dryer in the basement (which was welcome as we’d been traveling over a week when we arrived there). Each room has a little kitchenette, a nice-sized bath, large rooms with wooden floors and a sitting area. It’s fairly new, so everything sparkles. Very friendly front desk, too.

"Two cafes on the same block as the hotel were wonderful: Café Katoen for a university atmosphere, and Café le Jarden, for great table seating on the canal."

In Paris we had a quad/family room at the Hotel de la Bourdonnais, which had a beautiful full-on view of the Eiffel Tower. It's in the 7th.

From my trip report: "Stayed at Hotel de la Bourdonnais, in the 7th and liked it very much. Nice-sized quad room for our family, with A/C and a lift. GREAT view of the Eiffel Tower from our little balcony (room 503). Friendly front desk, too. Offered a simple breakfast buffet, but we chose to visit Rue Cler in the mornings, for coffee, croissants, crepes and fresh fruit. A nice market next door to the hotel was handy, too. Metro stop on the corner, Batobus stop close by, too, at the Eiffel Tower. Even an ATM machine at the corner bank. Loved the location and the upscale neighborhood. An easy walk through the Champs de Mars to the Eiffel Tower. "
