Dinner reservations in Rome - Armando al Pantheon

We have never made any dinner reservations in Rome and have never had a problem, although we have at times eaten earlier than your average Roman. My question is - I would like to eat at Armando al Pantheon on our first night staying in Rome on June 16th. Do I need to make reservations and if so, would it be too early to make them now? If I need reservations, I'd like to just make them now, if possible, just to get another trip item taken care of. Thanks!

We were in Rome last week and hoped to eat there but never did (silly us--I really wanted to try the farro dish that eskrunchy had).

They have an email address on their website where you may contact them...I'm sure you'll get first-hand advice here but it never hurts to go to the source.

Have a wonderful trip.

rbnwdln,
I debated doing that too, but ended up doing it when we got there. We walked by in the early afternoon as we were out and about and made reservations for that evening. It was our first night too. I think we ate at 8:30. We had a great meal. It was one of our most enjoyable meals all week long. We had hoped to go back, but never made it.

First: Armando is closed this week -- they re-open after May 1. But I think you should wait until after June 1 to reserve. Otherwise, there is a risk they will lose the reservation. You'll be fine, even with this deferral......

weve never been big on reserving in Italy and never really had trouble (except once). For example 5 of us walked in for lunch at Armando on two occasions a couple years back. It helps if you go on the early side. Im thinking its big business time is lunch, since business types and government bigwigs (in addition to tourists) go there but I could be really wrong. It wont be a hard reservation, Im sure you can wait til a closer date. If you do, make sure you try one of the lamb dishes - their traditional roman pastas, vegetables, just about anything is great (except the saffron pasta, go figure) enjoy
