Desperately looking for TGV stop
Hi Everyone.
I've looked at every posting on Avignon and I can't figure out which TGV stop in Avignon my hotel is at. I looked at the TGV website and they only had one stop listed "Avignon" but the map showed 2, am I looking at the wrong website?
My hotel "Avignon Grand Hotel" 34 Boulevard St Roch, Avignon 84000 - which stop is this close to?
Desperate!!

I just put the address of your hotel into Google, and when the list came up I clicked on "Maps" above. It showed your hotel right across the street from the (what I presume is the main) station in Avignon.
Just compare the Google map with the map you have. You might also just ask the conductor.

Thanks nukesafe. We're still in Canada planning our trip and would like to purchase train tickets. With all the posting I'm all confused. Do we buy the ticket to Avignon and just ask the conductor which stop to get off at? The site showed two stops, in the past postings there seemed to be more than two.

The station near your address is "Avignon Centre", according to www.mappy.com (which displays the train station names if your cursor hovers over the icon)...

There are two train stations in Avignon, TGV and Centre. Gare TGV is about 3 km SW of Gare Centre. They are not connected by track.
Your hotel is about 100 meters NE of Gare Centre.
Looks like a taxi trip unless you are hikers.

Avignon has two train stations. The regular SNCF station is in the center of town(where I believe your hotel is located), and the large TGV station is just outside the center. In either case, it is not a problem. If you arrive at the TGV station, there is a bus to take you into the center of town. Avignon is a great town - enjoy!

We actually spent a while in Avignon without a car a few years ago.
No idea if there are organised tours in the area (but we're both allergic to them, so we weren't looking very hard), but most of the interesting stuff (like Orange, the Pont du Gard, Fontaine de Vaucluse and Arles) need a fair amount of time, and I'd be surprised if organised tours gave you the time you need.
There's a pretty good local bus service. Map at:
