Departing Dublin/hotels-pre-arrival
We're traveling to Ireland in July and want to arrange accommodations for our final night in Dublin. The flight is at 11:00 a.m. Can anyone say from recent experience how early one needs to arrive at the airport for a flight to US? Also, can anyone recommend a decent, reasonably priced hotel (under $125 for family of four) near the airport? We're paying that rate on our first night in Dublin at Jury's Christchurch... and wonder whether any such "family rates" are available near the airport.

There's a Travelodge near the airport at Swords. Their rack rate is around 75 euro for a room for four. Book through the website

Good advice from Alec. Allow at least 2 hours before departure. That means getting to the airport at 09.00am. remember the traffic at that time of the day in Dublin can be hectic. But if you stay in Swords you are on the same side of the city as the airport.

My flight home last week was at 11:00 also. I was there at 8 and the lines were quite long, all Aer Lingus Bos and NY flights check in about the same time, so I was pleased to be there early since it took well over 45 minutes to check in. If you're not taking Aer Lingus, you might not have the same problem.

The Holiday Inn at the Airport is actually quite a bargain and has great rooms. We stayed there in a double for 69 Euro a night in December, and a shuttle takes you to the terminal in the morning. I usually hate hotels adjacent to airports, but this is the only exception.

I agree with Saro. The Holiday Inn at the airport is quite nice and very convenient for early morning flight. The hotel has very good rooms and very good food service if you are inclined to eat in. We were quite happy with this hotel.
