Ravello was one of my best day trips in the Amalfi - I did it from Sorrento - by bus - thrilliing Amalfi Coast buses though in season I think you could go by boat - maybe go one way and come back the other - Amalfi is the town under perched up high Ravello - Amalfi to me was a really sweet town so both of these make a spectacular day trip.
I walked up from Amalfi along a paved path that yes went up but fairly gradually until a last stepped part if I redclal correctly - a lovely walk thru orchards and small garden plots and Ravello s a nice old town but the best thing to me was the sweeping vistas over the entire Amalfi Coast far below.
I walked down from Ravlelo a different way - on zigzagging roads thru vineyards - with front sea views the whole way. Magnificent. If not into walking there are frequent buses to Ravello from Amalfi.

>>>how you discovered these hiking trails<<<
Google Path of the Gods Amalfi and you will turn up lots of info.
>>>Also, how long is the trip by bus?<<
Sorrento/Amalfi will take over an hour. Amalfi/Ravello doesn't take long unless you have to wait for a bus.
