Dachau AND Terezin or just Dachau?

We are planning a trip to Munich and Prague. We definitely want to go to Dachau, but for those who have been to both would you recommend seeing both Dachau and Terezin on the same 2 week trip, or just do Dachau? I am Jewish and consider seeing the sites very important, but am wondering if they would be too similar or if they are different enough that two trips would be a good idea.

Great! I was hoping to have an excuse to do both.

Yes, they are quite different. You may want to do a little reading on both before your trip. Terezin was unique to the camp system in both its establishment and function.

Will you be taking a tour of the Jewish quarter in Prague? You may want to consider such a tour before you visit Terezin. There are several companies that specialize in such heritage tours.

Thank you lucy. I have already done a bit of research on Terezin (was why I was thinking they might be different). Yes, we do plan on taking a tour of the Jewish Quarter in Prague - do you recommend one company or guide over another? We generally prefer to do smaller groups or even private tours if possible.

Both of these are recommended. They will both customize if you want. In my opinion, you really learn a lot more on these types of tours than going on your own with a guide book or an audio guide.

Hope this helps!
