Cyber Cafes Paris

Does anyone have any suggestions of easy to find cyber-cafes? I'd like to e-mail home. We will be staying in Montparnasse 14 but will be all over Paris.

There's a good one directly opposite the Luxembourg Gardens; it has some American keyboards, and the rates aren't bad.

Be very careful about the price before you commit. I did an hour in one near the Sorbonne and when it was time to pay, 20 euros! Ouch! Of course the fact that I was slowed by having to use a French keyboard probably didn't help my time any. On the other hand, went to one in the Marais, my son and I each had our own computer, with English keyboards, and our total charge was 3.50 euros each. Just wanted to point out the huge price variations.

If you are a touch typist, you really want to try for an American keyboard. The French one will drive you nuts.

If you are a touch typist..there may be a selection on the program that let's you chose English...so it doesn't matter what key you hit it will be "translated'!

Now if you are a hunt and peck you are in big trouble!

There is a great place near Rue de Grand Augustins near Rue Jacob ..I know where it is and could lead you there but I'm not in Paris at the moment!

I stay in Montparnasse a lot and the one on rue Montparnasse mentioned above is the best in that area, I think. I didn't recall the name, but knew it was e... something and that's only one block so must be it. It is as cheap as any I've found (the Orbital is fairly expensive, as I recall), and is air-conditioned which is nice in summer (most are not). They have French and QWERTY (or English keyboards -- these are not "American" keyboards).

jody, I think this is the internet place you are referring to:

Access Academy, 62, rue St. Andre des Arts

Very clean, inexpensive and huge; I was there every morning last november after having my first coffee on rue de Buci, they open at 8 a.m.; you select how much euros you want to pay and get a slip with a pin number to use at your leisure.

Mygsy, this is in St. Germain area surrounded by interesting streets to stroll in.

I used Access Academy last October. It has a whole section of QWERTY keyboards.

I used to use the "Easy Everything" just of St. Michel, but I have heard that has fallen on hard times.

The Easy Everything website does not show any locations in France (now).

I used one called XS Arena around the corner from St Michel/St Germain, next to a crepery. There was one in the 13th on Primatica that we also used. We saw them all over the city; I think there were a couple on Rue Mouffetard. You shouldn't have any trouble finding one.
