Train from Rome to Florence

How long does it take? About how much does it cost? Do they run into the evening?

Thanks!

The veterans shouldn't have to answer these every time, so here goes:

Trains run between Rome and Florence every hour. On the fast Eurostar Italia, the trip takes 90 minutes and costs 29.50 Euros including the seat reservation.

Slower regional trains also make the trip for less money.

Check www.trenitalia.it for schedules.

Latest run is at around 9:30 pm from Termini.
Cost is 42 Euro First class or 29 Euro second class.

And anticipating , the next tried-and-true (and essential) question...no, you don't have to book from _______ (Poughkeepsie, Halifax, Sydney-pick one). You can purchase your ticket at Termini station in Rome the day before or even day of the trip if you are leaving at night. You can stand in line and be assisted in one of 4-6 languages or you can use the handy machines.

Have a great trip!

Check trenitalia, the Italian train website (www.trenitalia.com) for further details.....Trains leave Roma for Firenze in the morning, dependent on how early you want to go - I found a train at 7:14 am and depart every 30 minutes. It is a very regular train that runs every day and into the evening. The average travel time is approximately 2 hours (+/-), while the faster ES trains take 1:36 hours. The ES train tickets cost 1st class 42,35 euros, 2nd class 29,44. The regular train tickets 1st class 29,80 euros and 2nd class 21,95.
