current weather in London
Hi,
I am flying into Heathrow next Wed., 6/16, and have been following London weather on the weather channel site for over a month.
Nothing but showers in rain noted from Wed. on, according to the 10 day forecast!
How reliable is the long term forecast for London?
I thought I read on a post that because of its location, London weather was very changeable. I hope!
Looking forward to my first London trip, planned with much help from fodor.com

Even IF the forecasts were accurate -- showers usually are really just that. Showers, sunshine, clouding up, showers, sunshine. You get nutty even trying to figure out what the weather will be next week - or tomorrow for that matter. It is very changeable -- and there could be a rain shower in Kensington and total sunshine in Russell Square.
I'm flying into London the day after you and I won't even begin to look at the weather site until about next Teusday.

hope the following helps...
I've woken up in London and put on the central heating...then turned it off and sat on the front steps of the house to sunbake...then came inside as it started to rain...then pour with rain...then sat outside again after the rain cleared. All in a day in the month of June

For what it's worth - last weekend it was so hot and sunny even I went into shorts. This morning (Saturday), it was overcast and a bit breezy and I really felt the need of my jacket (over short-sleeved cotton shirt and chinos); by the time I was on my way home from the shops, it was far too warm for the jacket. In central London in the afternoon, the clouds came over again and it threatened to rain as I walked down Charing Cross Road. Five minutes later the sun broke through gloriously hot and the jacket came off again. Now (6.45pm) there's a few clouds like the titles from The Simpsons but a hazy sun, and the trees are just moving slightly.

The BBC 5 day projection is reasonably relaible in my experience.

Haven't had any rain to speak of here (just north of London) for at least a couple of weeks. Looks like the dry spell will continue a little longer.

Hi Good news. The current weather in London is very hot with the outlook for the next few days, sunny and cloudy but with no showers. Today is boiling hot (for London) with a temperature of 28 degrees centigrade, definitely shorts weather. Try this website as I find it always gives very accurate readings.

When I checked the ten-day forecast while finalizing my packing last month, weather predicted was 60's (mostly lower) and overcast with possibility of rain all the next ten days.
Only because it was so unseasonally hot while I was packing did I throw in some warmer weather tops.
When we arrived, weather was in the high 60's low 70's with sunny skies for eight days straight. It rained for a few minutes off and on the next day, and sprinkled a bit here and there the next, with temps in the low 60's.
You just never know. Best to heed the advice to always be prepared for anything, along with cooler/warmer temps.

Try www.weatheronline.co.uk - easy to use site.
Agree with Janis showers are usually just showers. We are not talking about an all day heavy rain.
You will love London. Best wishes for a lovely time and do report back.

I have been in London in all 4 seasons and fall is my favorite. As other posters have noted, be prepared for anything. As I mentioned in a previous post, I really do go to London for the weather. And if you need a break from the weather, museums, galleries and pubs are great places to take that break.
