Croatia and Venice
We are going on a coach tour first from Venice, to Lake Bled for 3 nights, Zagreb, 1 night, Rovinj for 3 nights and Venice for 2 nights. Then we have four nights to fill in before departing Venice on a cruise visiting Split (Croatia), Kotor (Montenegro(, Durres (Albania), Dubrovnik, Ploce and Pula (Croatia), and back to Venice.
My question is what is the best place to visit for the 4 nights that's not too far away, doing day tours (we'll have a car). We went to Italy many years ago so wanted to see the lake area or down the east coast. B&B suggestions would be appreciated, thanks so much.

mhwhite, May I ask what coach tour you are taking from Venice to Croatia and back? I am considering taking my mom to Croatia, since her mom was from Zagreb - and I have been looking for a good tour - but one that might also include Venice. So the one you mention sounds good to me. Would you mind sharing your tour company name? Thanks.

hi, mhwhite,
well, you could stop in Venice for the remainder of your time, since you are going to be moving around for the rest of your trip.
alternatively, you could get the train to ravenna or verona, and use them as hubs for trips, or go over to lake garda and stay there 4 days.
I would only go to garda if you are travelling between May and September as half the fun is getting the boats around the lake, and they don't run off season.
there are lots of hotels and pensions in the many little towns around lake garda.
regards, ann

Sorry for the delay in responding. We are going with Gate1 for the first part of our trip then with jauntee.com for the cruise from Venice down the Croatian coast. They have a great special for March 29 at the moment, two for one. We have decided to base ourselves in Verona for the four nights in between the two trips and see Padua, Vicenza on the way and hopefully visit Lake Bled and perhaps the Dolomites, time permitting. mhwhite

I thought I had posted a reply but I don't see it. We are taking a Gate1 tour from Venice for 11 days then a 7 night cruise from Venice on the m/s Dalmajica through jauntee.com. They have a half price special for March 29 at the moment.
