A word of warning - don't confuse the Strand Palace with the Strand Continental which is opposite.

The Strand Continental is the hotel that time forgot (and forgot about indoor plumbing). It is the home to the wonderful India Club though (which I really wouldn't recommend to strangers - it's a very Marmite sort of place).

ANd just because a tube station is marked Handicap accessible don't expect the elevators and escalators to be working when you need them! Last month the tube at Earl's Court had no working elevators, and Green Park ( I think) had non functioning escalators all on the same day. Boy was I pooped at the end of the day!
