I leave for my first European trip in 89 days...I have it counted down because I was able to choose my seats online today for the trip to Europe--have to wait 3 weeks to choose for the return trip. www.seatguru.com was great for telling me where to sit--too bad they had all the aisle seats blocked off in the section of the plane with powerports for elite class frequent flyers. I hope those open up closer to the flight if they aren't booked by that classification.
I am looking forward to the museums and art and spending 3 weeks with my 13yo without her sisters or my husband there to distract us. She still likes me and only thinks I'm goofy about half of the time and I know that is likely to change at any hormonal moment!
I have all plane tickets reserved, hotels reserved and some of the day-to-day itinerary planned. I still need train tickets from Budapest to Novi Sad, but it is too early to get those. I have bought new lugggage (21" roll-aboards) and have benefited from someone else's loss by going to the Unclaimed Baggage store in Scottsboro, Alabama (only 2 hours away from me) and bought a used iPod 30G video for my trip which I am busy loading up with travel videos and podcasts, plus a little sleepy classical music for the plane. Also snagged some nice Brookstone noise-cancelling headphones from Unclaimed Baggage. I actually bought our luggage there too, but it was new with tags--factory seconds, so no one lost anything for that bargain.
I am researching international SIM cards and getting ready to buy money belts, blankets and neck pillows for the plane and have bought some easy to care for travel clothing and checked out every guide book the local library has on our destinations.
I am loving the research....

Bon voyage. Please say hi to CC. I think she is on the way to Dijon right now.
I can't count down for the trip to Europe in September yet but I am looking forward to my rescheduled trip to NYC in June. The first one was cancelled due to the snow storm.
