Cotswolds

We will be staying in the Cotswolds for about 4 days in June. Researching B&B's show me the average price about 65-75 pounds per night. Does anyone have a favorite place they have stayed, or which towns are best base for a short stay- we will have a car and will drive around to visit, but also enjoy walking. Thankyou

We stayed in Burford for our trip in 2001. The LAMB INN was very nice, old and quaint. We had a car and did day trips around the area. Burford worked for us. FAX: 01993 822228. Great area! Have fun wherever you stay!

We enjoyed staying in Chipping Campden and had a good B&B experience at the Bramley House:

The Station House in Boughton-on-the-water charged us GBP 19.00 per person in May in 2001.

Hi!!!

I, personally, love the quaint medieval village of Stanton in the Cotswolds. To me, it's the perfect quiet place to base yourself for a stay in the Cotswolds. I have stayed in Stanton a number of times (self-catering at the Stanton Court Cottages) and, depending on what you like, you could easily do some day trips to places like Winchcombe, Broadway (about 5 miles from Stanton), Upper & Lower Slaughter, Guitting Power, Great Tewe, Chipping Campden, Morton in Marsh, Stow on the Wold, Bourton on the Water, to name a few. The Vine is a nice B&B in Stanton...

The Mount Pub is up on the hill, serves basic meals and is popular with walkers! It's a nice place to have a drink outside and watch the sunset!!

You can walk some of the Cotswolds Way from Stanton too!!!

Warwick Castle is also a doable day trip!

We liked Crestow House in Stow on the Wold. The place is quite charming, and we liked the hosts. I can't recall the price, but it wasn't very expenisve.
