cordoba granada seville

Hi:

I am traveling with my 80 year old mother during April and will be spending a few nights in each of the three named cities. I need to find an affordable hotel where we can get separate rooms with private baths. I will also have a car so need to have parking accommodations. It has been suggested that we stay near the cathedral in Seville. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

In Sevilla I stayed at Hotel Alcantara - http://www.hotelalcantara.net, which is very reasonable and near the cathedral. However, no parking - it's on a pedestrian street. I don't think the hotels in the Barrio Santa Cruz usually have parking, and you don't need a car in Sevilla itself. Many people suggest parking on the outskirts of town - lots of narrow streets make the old part of town difficult to navigate.

In Granada, I stayed at the Hotel Anacapri, in town, also reasonable with singles with baths. Staying up by the Alhambra is more costly, I believe. http://www.hotelanacapri.com/ingles/centro_in.htm

Where are you flying into and out of? You don't really need a car in Granada either - I dropped mine off at the airport and cabbed it into town, but I flew to Barcelona after that.

Hope this helps.

While in Seville, we stayed at the Hotel Amadeus about a 10-15 minute walk to the cathedral. The hotel is small and charming and we loved it. We were able to park about a 2-minute walk from the hotel. In Granada, we stayed at the Hotel America on the grounds of the Alhambra. We parked in the Alhambra parking lot but you can drive to the hotel to unload luggage before parking. It was very convenient and very reasonable. Let me know if you have questions.

Thanks for the suggestions. This is only part of our trip and we are combining train, bus and car travel. This is the part with the car. I want to arrive, park and not bother again until I leave but I want to be sure the car is safe.

Hotel Alacantara is very near the Cathedral in Seville and in a charming neighborhood. They communicate well through e-mail, so you can contact them that way for parking advice. They were supremely friendly and helpful with us.

In Granada, I recommend Hotel Guadalupe - http://www.hotel-guadalupe.com. The hotel is right across the street from the Alhambra and there is a cheap shuttle to take down the hill into the city. I was just there and got a room for about $80 US.
