Converter for Camera Battery Charger

Fellow travellers! Need advice. I am trying to buy a converter for a trip to England. I need to be able to plug in my camera battery charger. Any suggestions?

I looked at the converters available at Brookstone and they are not suited for battery chargers.

Rather than buy a converter, I bought an extra set of batteries. I have them in my camera bag, all charged. I have never run out of two sets, but I don't know how long you plan to be away and how many pics you plan to take. I do the same with the memory stick. I have two.

Mi mc,

Are you sure that your battery charger is *not* dual voltage?

Does it say 110 - 240V on the label?

Most electronics recharging cables are already equipped to handle up to 240v. Check the fine print on the unit itself and if it says Input 100 - 240V all you will need is the adaptor plug so that it will fit into the wall outlet.

Take Ira's sage advice before buying ANYTHING "extra." Since most cameras and their chargers are manufactured for use worldwise, it is a very good possibility that the charger will accept any voltage between 110 and 240.

Converters are a pain, many are dangerous (I know because I blew out the fuses on an entire Amsterdam hotel FLOOR using one once..never again!!)

As a previous poster said, check your charger because it is likely dual voltage. In that event then you would only need the plug adapter. If you have any doubt go to www.voltagevalet.com. I have purchased items from them but I have also called them with questions without making a purchase. They have always been very helpful. Most newer personal appliances and electronics are dual voltage. Good luck and have a great trip.

" I blew out the fuses on an entire Amsterdam hotel FLOOR using one once..never again!"

I did the same thing at a B&B in York, England. Blew up my hair dryer and took out all the power on my floor. Had bad hair that day, but stopped at Boots and picked up a UK hair dryer. Haven't messed with converters since.
