Where should I buy the museum passes?

at any of the museums/monuments where it is accepted. best not to buy it at the Musee d'Orsay because of the long lines. Smaller museums like the Cluny or Rodin or Nissim de Comondo are good choices.

May I borrow your children this fall? Every time I have been to the Arch de Triomphe I have been told the elevator is not working. I hurt a knee skiing years ago and cannot hike that many stairs so have never made it to the top.

Who told you the elevator wasn't working? Just stand by the door, and when it opens, wait for the people to come out, and get in.

The elevator is in the west pillar (adjacent to Ave. Victor Hugo), and faces southeast, down the Champs Élysées.

Re the Arc de Triomphe; at the stairs I asked the ticket-taker for the "ascenseur"; she asked if I had a problem; I said (in English) that I have arthritis in my knees, and she directed me to the elevator. It is marked as the handicapped entrance. Wait by the steel curved door; the attended elevator should arrive soon.

We actually were standing in line to climb them (and were just going to fold the stroller and utilize the shoulder strap) when we were pulled out of line. Awesome surprise!
