Cinque Terre Hotels

My husband and I will be visiting CT in early September (despite the posts regarding the crowds - too bad about that, though!). It's our first trip to Europe and we really want to see this area.

I am looking for a recommendation for a hotel with a fantastic view for less than 100 euros (with A/C). I'm sure there are tons, but we'd like personal reviews instead of just relying on a guidebook.

Thanks so much in advance!

I will be visiting CT for the first time in late September so I can't give you a personal review just yet. However, I can advise you to book asap. Most of the hotels were already fully booked when I first started making reservations three weeks ago. I finally found a room at Albergo degli Amici in Monterosso. My top choices were completely full, no waiting list. Good luck and have a great trip!

A good second choice to stay is PORTOVENERE. Close to the CT for an easy visit. BELVEDERE HOTEL there is nice.

Hotel Villa Steno in Monterosso is one of my favorite hotels in the CT region (out of 4 trips). A double room with view and A/C is 125€ if you pay in cash.

In Vernazza I stayed at Albergo Barbara... cheap (60-75€ for a small double with no view), but no A/C (at least in 2003).

My friend and I traveled Cinque Terre in May. It's unbelievably gorgeous. We stayed in Vernazza. Loved it the most of all the 5 villages and Porto Venere. There are more private rooms for rent in the area than hotels. Our room in Vernazza was like staying with mom. Very sweet Italian lady who spoke only a couple of words of English. But if you're set on a hotel you might want to stay in Monterosso - the northern most town. It's the biggest and the most resort oriented with more hotel choice and nightlife. Remember to pair down your luggage. Cinque terre is built into the hillside so for the most part there is one main bumpy road in each village with numerous narrow spider like streets spinning off that road. And most places are a hike straight up to your room so you will be hoisting that suitcase a fair bit. Have fun and prepare to fall in love!

Hi there -- Also a fan of the Villa Steno in Monterosso. We had an amazing view from the balcony and the service was amazing. Great breakfast, too. If you can spend a little extra, it will be worth it... Enjoy!
