Inexpensive Hotels in the Cinque Terra?

My sister and I will be spending 2 nights in the Cinque Terra and are looking for a nice yet inexpensive (less than 60euro/night) room to rent. Not particular on the village. We are young, a bit adventurous, and pack light so a climb is not a problem. We are definitely more interested in atmosphere than creature comforts.

When are you going? The price will depend on the month you are going. I am going in July which is the high season and am paying 90 euros a night at www.duegemelli.it. It was cheap compared to some other ones I looked at. Good luck.

Hi VT,

I stayed at Albergo Barbara in 2002 when I was backpacking. I recall paying around 60€ for a double room. The hotel is in Vernazza and it is right off the main piazza. Many rooms have a sea view. It is simple and basic, but clean and the location is excellent. I last visited the Cinque Terra in May 2005 and Albergo Barbara was still in the same location.

You may get more results when you are searching if you search under Cinque Terre, not Cinque Terra. The Fodors search tool isn't all that wonderful so using the exact spelling usually helps to give you more results.

I hope you and your sister have a wonderful time on your trip! I love the CT... try to get back every couple of years.

Early May is a lovely time in the CT, although I find the water too chilly for swimming. If you are into hiking, try to hike the trail from Monterosso al Mare to Vernazza to Corniglia. I find the trail from Corniglia to Manarola and from Manarola to Riomaggiore less beautiful (but it is much less strenuous).
