Any recommendations for boutiques for children in Paris? In particualar clothes and books? Recommendations would be greatly appreciated !

Clothing: Bonpoint, Jacadi, Tartine et Chocolat, Catamini, to name a few.

Also, Galeries Lafayette has beautiful children's clothing and has little "boutiques" within the department, such as Burberry, Catamini, etc.

I loved the Tartine et Chocolat shop in the 6th, near the 7th (or vice versa, not sure which it's considered to be)and bought my granddaughter's "coming home from the hospital" outfit there before she was born, in 2002. However, when I was in Paris this past May, the shop appeared to be having a "going out of business sale". It's hard to imagine it's completely gone; maybe someone else here knows the story.

Bonpoint, nearby in same area, has gorgeous clothes, also.

But don't overlook Galeries Lafayette and the 10% discount (on some brands) and VAT.

Have fun and be prepared to spend several euro!

Any major Parisian bookstore should have plenty of French children's books. I do know of a boutique with games that might have kids' books on rue Dante in the 5th (I think). I would just go to a major bookstore for that, though.

I like Natalys. The outfits are not as glamorous as Tartine et Chocolat's, but are cheaper, and of a very good quality.

There are Natalys' shops all over Paris.

Another boutique for children's clothes is Agnes B. There is one at Rue du Vieux Colombier in the 6th arr. as well as other shops all over Paris.

Oh, yes, I had forgotten, there's another boutique, Petit Faune, Rue Jacob, at the corner of Rue St. Benoît in the 6th as well, that has beautiful clothes for kids.

While at home we often buy items from dpam.com. I don't recall the location of the store but I am certain my wife could find it blind-folded.

I also purchased my "granddaughter to be" a lovely outfit while in Paris. Unfortunately my GRANDSON can not wear it! Too far to travel to exchange for a wonderful grandson! Shopping for baby cloths in Europe is fun though...

I was in Tartine et Chocolat over the weekend, lovely clothes for smaller children (and still open), but my eight-year-old niece loves Galeries Lafayette, and although they do have beautiful clothing (my girlfriend found an exquisite Dior christening gown), she usually departs looking like a mini-rock star.

I found that the giftshop at the Louvre had wonderful children's books. I bought one which featured famous paintings that had cats in them and the game was to find all the cats. The little boy I bought it for loved it.

Affordable, bright contemporary clothes from a chain with branches all over Paris. This one is particularly well-located near the department stores of boulevard Haussmann.

Come to Petit Bateau for simple shapes and colours, all in cotton, with a particularly strong line in pyjamas, nightwear and underwear.

Aj, I hope a granddaughter gets to wear the outfit someday! Actually, we didn't know the sex of our "granddaughter" at the time, so I had to really hunt hard to find a unisex baby outfit in Paris. Almost everything either had a boy or girl motif or color. I finally found an all white very soft velour outfit at T and C.

Glad to hear the T and C is alive and well; it was quite strange this past May: everything in the store was on sale, and the inventory was very picked over by the time I got there so I couldn't even get a bargain for Petite Fille, now almost 3.

My daughter and I managed to do a fair amount of 'damage' to my credit card in the children's department at Bon Marche.

Bonpoint was also wonderful. There were a couple of other baby/children's wear shops on rue du Bac as well.

Enjoy shopping in Paris. I am green with envy!!!!
