Cefalu Info and Hotels?
I am trying to book a hotel in Cefalu (Sicily) for July 2005. I have emailed several but have yet to receive a response from any of them.
Can anyone give me any information on Cefalu? Maybe this is an indication that we should skip it and stay in Palermo.
Thanks

The hotels you e-mailed may be closed for the winter. Some hotels in town (not on the beach) may be open, but the beach hotels may be closed at least until Easter week. In general, though, unless the place is trying to be very modern in its business practices, you may be better off contacting them by fax rather than e-mail.

I had no luck with email with the hotel I booked in Cefalu, but a fax worked fine. I had sent a simple inquiry by email and evenutally got a response - after almost a month!
We are staying at the La Giara, which is supposedly the only hotel in the centro. Here is the website if you are interested:

Here's a list of more hotels with phone and fax numbers. You might be able to google for websites and email addresses. Links to other information on the site, as well.

Don't feel that you MUST stay overnight in Cefalu: it's a very easy daytrip out of Palermo, and train service is fast, inexpensive and frequent. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the Cathedral from the station.
However, if you want to experience the "look and feel" of a small Sicilian coastal town which is slightly "discovered" by tourists, Cefalu is a good choice.

Thanks for all the information. I did not think about the hotels being closed for the winter. I will try the hotel someone listed above. The one that I was really interested in is the Hotel Riva Del Sole; I don't know if anyone knows anything about them. They are suppose to be close to the city center.
I am going to check out the hotels on the other website as well. Thanks again for all the information.
