Wow, Robespierre that was just great.

Having looked the the Mobilis I do not understand the difference between that and the Paris Visite? Other than what you sent to me, I do not see anything about a Mobilis card on the ratp website.

Thanks so very much,

Vic

Paris Visite comes with a coupon book that gets you twofers at numerous attractions. But unless you use a LOT of them, it's not worth it. The other difference is that PV isn't sold for Zones 1-2 (which is where 99% of the sights are), but Mobilis is. This page has the two cards priced side-by-side:

I guess RATP doesn't market the Mobilis heavily because most French people would use the weekly or monthly Carte Orange, or the annual Abonnement Intégrale.

By the way, a self-conducted bus tour is a LOT cheaper than the hop-on hop-off operations like l'Open Tour. You can get your map here:

If you are the least bit worried about sitting near "seedy types" or "non-genteel people" that a couple of the xenophobic posters above have made so much of, then you'd better skip public transport in Paris entirely!

Robespierre, Thanks again for the info. We will definitely take the 42bus, it looks great.

You mentioned the Batobus, is the Mobilis good for that too, or is that asking much too much. Tried to figure out their pricing but that was difficult for me to do. Why do you not like the open tour, it seems to get closer? Does the Mobilis cover that too?

Thanks for your help.

Best Regards,

Vic

They're both extra.

Batobus sells one-way trips for €7.50 and day-long passes for €11.

All that l'Open Tour gets you compared to a Mobilis is the audio commentary. They're a private company, and don't accept RATP passes.
